Donald Lee Cain, age 73, died May 24, 2011 at his home in Matthews, MO.
He was born July 9, 1937 at Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of the late Glendon and Doris (Ray) Cain.
He was a member of the Church of Christ at Matthews, a member of the Missouri National Guard for six years, and had been a self-employed farmer in the rural Essex area before retiring.
On May 26, 1989, he married Barbara Gilless; she survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Donald Steven Cain of rural Essex, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen & Jeff Martin of Sikeston; one stepson and his wife, Randy & Jackie Gilless of Pocahontas, AR; five grandchildren, Erica Cain, Zachary Cain, Adam Martin, Caroline Martin, and Benjamin Martin; two step grandchildren, Sarah Phillips and Paige Kelly; and three great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Cain.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, at 10:00 a.m. Pat Hogan of Shady Acres Church of Christ will officiate and Neal Wagley will be assisting.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery at Dexter, MO.
