Lloyd Barton ‘Beans’ Evans, age 89, died March 20, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.
He was born February 15, 1923 in Sikeston, MO, son of the late Lloyd Wilson and Lucy (Culbertson) Evans.
Mr. Evans was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II, a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and had worked as a truck driver for Valley Steel before retiring.
On July 9, 1949, at Charleston, MO, he married Paula Gay Bess; she preceded him in death September 29, 2008. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Merry Gay and Muriel E. Lape of Sikeston; one brother, Howard Evans of Joplin, MO; two sisters, Shirley Tetley and Mildred Baker both of Sikeston; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where funeral services will be held Friday, March 23, at 10 a.m. Rev. David B. Ross, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow with full military honors at 12 noon at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
