U.S. VeteranPaul Dent Walker, age 87, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

Born February 6, 1926 in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late Hobart S. and Sylvia Fern (Wycoff) Walker, he was a member of First Christian Church in Sikeston and a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 serving as a radio man.

On Jun 16, 1946 in McArthur, Ohio he married Alice Daab; she survives of the home.

He graduated from Phillips University at Enid, Oklahoma in 1950 with a degree in Divinity and graduated from Missouri School of Religion at Columbia, Missouri with a Master’s Degree in Divinity.

He was pastor of First Christian Church at Fayette, Missouri, first pastor of Community Christian Church at Manchester, Missouri, pastor at First Christian Church in Sikeston from 1972 to 1982 and pastor of First Christian Church in Lakeland, Florida from January 1983 until his retirement in January 1989. He was interim pastor at Plant City, Florida First Christian Church for 4 ½ years and then at Bethany Christian Church in Lakeland, Florida for 1 ½ years.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; one son, Douglas Walker of Kimberling City, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Paul Johnson of Sikeston; one sister, Nancy Leinbaugh of Gahanna, Ohio; five grandchildren and their spouses, Shawdi & Mark Williams, Emily & Ronnie Wallace, Addie & Matt Winchester all of Sikeston, Isaac & Jenny Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky and Guy & Ashley Walker of Washington State; and 12 great grandchildren, Morgan Johnson, Caleb, Joshua, Noah and Titus Williams, Ashton, Micah, Timothy and Joseph Wallace, Elaina and Jillian Winchester and Eliana Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Walker was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Earl Walker, who was killed in World War II, and one daughter, Sue Ann Walker.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 7, from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Bryce Hughes, pastor, will officiate.

Private burial will follow at a later date at Fayette, Missouri.
